A lodger says he has been left homeless after he confronted his ‘landlady’ beating a defenceless dog and filmed the attack as evidence.
Bartender Carl Gough was staying with the woman at her house in Oldham when he says he saw her start hitting the rottweiller in the kitchen with a shoe, before chasing it.
Her lodger filmed the horrific assault on his phone, and was thrown out the house when he tried to intervene
The dog, called Lennox, was muzzled so could not fight back. The woman then began kicking and smacking the dog over and over again the hallway.
WARNING: Distressing video footage belowShocked lodger Carl,20, decided to get his mobile phone out and film the attack as evidence. When he confronted the woman over the cruel beating, he was then kicked out for intervening.
Carl, who ended up sleeping on the street on the night of last Thursday’s incident, said: “I had been staying at the woman’s house for about two weeks, and had just got in after seeing friends.
“I could hear the dog screaming and when I went to take a look, I saw her hitting the dog with a shoe in the kitchen. I asked her what he had done to deserve that treatment, and she said he wouldn’t sit down.
“Then she’s at the door doing it again. I went over and intervened - I couldn’t just stand there and watch. I then called the RSPCA and police.
“The police said they couldn’t do anything as it was against a dog. It was horrific, it was very upsetting to watch.
“She kicked me out for trying to help the dog and now I’m homeless.”
A spokeswoman for the RSPCA confirmed they are investigating the incident and the dog is now in their care.
She said: “We are aware of this and are investigating. This footage came to our attention on Friday morning (November 11) after it was posted on Facebook.
