This was on May 16, 1991 at around 4:48 a.m.....a bunch of us, my colleague Gary Schultz of Santa Monica, Bill Yamazaki and Michael Bangs, both of Los Angeles and myself and about 10 others were standing by our vehicles parked on Groom Lake Rd., looking due south towards the Jumbled Hills and Groom Mountains (towards Area 51). We suddenly saw a very bright light over the Jumbled Hills which moved towards the Groom Mountains (over Area 51). We thought we were looking at a flying saucer slowly moving towards Area 51. However, in retrospect, I am quite certain that it was an early morning sun's reflection of a 737 jetliner (JANET flights) circling over the base for the landing at the base. The JANET commuter jets take the employees to Area 51 everyday. There are usually about 6 or 7 flights a day, taking off from the E.G. & G. Terminal at McCarren Airport in Las Vegas. It only takes about 16 to 17 minutes to fly from E.G. & G. Terminal to the Groom Lake complex. This footage was taken by Michael Bangs.
