Julian Assange's legal team asked a Swedish court to overturn his arrest warrant earlier this year after the U.N. ruled his detention is arbitrary.

He has never been charged, and the statute of limitations on several potential offenses expired last year. Assange has denied all accusations of sexual assault and rape, claiming they are fabricated as part of a smear campaign to facilitate his extradition to the United States, where a criminal investigaiton is open, to face trial for WikiLeaks whistleblowing.
