- UFOS AND NUKES DEPARTMENT -

On Dropping the Bomb(s)
By Billy Cox

For more than 30 years, Robert Hastings knew he had another story to tell, one that risked dragging him back to the fringe. He’d worked tirelessly to position his research in the elusive center, and in 2010, it looked like he might’ve gotten a toehold.
Ten years ago in September, CNN live-streamed Hastings’ press conference at the National Press Club in Washington. That’s where most Americans — or at least, those who tuned in, anyway — first learned from seven intrepid military veterans that UFOs were punching holes in the most sensitive airspace in the nation, above Strategic Air Command facilities, where America’s weapons of mass destruction are locked and loaded.
The speakers’ service records were above reproach, and their stories represented a fraction of what Hastings had chronicled in his 2008 book UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites. At that time, more than a hundred veterans had gone on record for Hastings’ expose, which was the most in-depth look at this strange dance since word of compromised security first leaked out in 1973. The Christian Science Monitor broke that story when Sylvania Electric Systems manager Ray Fowler spoke out about how a flight of Minuteman ICBMs at Malmstrom AFB got shut down by bogeys back when LBJ was president. Eyewitness reports of similar intrusions have been dribbling out piecemeal ever since.
Hastings has interviewed more looped-in veterans since then, and in 2016 he produced a sobering followup documentary, “UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed.” But the media never capitalized on the national-security angle, at least not until news of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program got out in 2017. Between that and the release of eyewitness-supported F-18 videos, the lid began to crack in a big way. And once congressional inquiries into The Great Taboo gain momentum, you can bet your ass the security of our nuclear arsenal will be a major part of that review. (But good luck getting anyone to acknowledge it.)
But the man who got the ball rolling was also holding back a secret he’d muzzled since 1988, something so underground it would’ve been as reputation-shattering as admitting to being gay in 1952. However, after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure two years ago, now closing in on 70, Hastings decided to drop the bomb late last year with a memoir, Confession: Our Hidden Alien Encounters Revealed.
Actually, it was two bombs. Not only did the newly unmasked UFO abductee disclose details of what may have been tracking him as early as age 2, Hastings invited Bob Jacobs to contribute to Confession as well. Jacobs, ex-Air Force, has never been shy about talking up what he claims was the filmed shootdown of an unarmed Atlas missile by a UFO over Big Sur when he was stationed at Vandenberg AFB in 1964. But he hadn’t told everything.
While comparing notes years ago, Hastings and Jacobs discovered they shared a bizarre mutual quirk – waking up with a start in the middle of the night, their digital nightstand clocks reading (mostly) 4:44 or 3:33. Those jarring episodes were often accompanied by the sort of “nightmares” long familiar to researchers who study abduction cases, with overlapping details that included (occasional) bloodstains on the pillows or sheets.
Without tipping his hand, Hastings would query strangers with similar interests about any experiences they may have had with the triplicate repetition of numbers, 1:11, 2:22, etc. So many puzzled souls reported being jolted from slumber at those times, he began calling it the “Triple Digit Thingy.” Hastings interpreted the phenomenon to be a signature, or a calling card, intended to inform the experiencer of the non-random nature of the event.
Long before the bad-health news, Hastings says he knew, someday, he’d have to get this stuff off his chest. In recent years, he began letting it out incrementally, in off-the-record asides to those he trusted. In some cases, he got the reaction he’d steeled himself for, often from the veterans he had quoted in UFOs and Nukes, who feared his revelations could mark them for ridicule by association. After all, abductees have been the butt of cultural jokes since Martin Mull’s “Fernwood 2 Night” first put the alien-hijacked country-rubes cliché out there in the 1970s.
“A few were visibly upset and almost angry that not only me, but that (retired USAF captain/missile launch officer) Bob Salas  had come out of the closet, and felt there was no credibility to the abduction stories and that they undercut their credibility,” Hastings recalls from his home in Colorado. “I said look, you know my body of work, and I’m applying the same methodology in my analysis of my own experience, trying to accurately report what I remember and trying to keep speculation to a minimum. And when I do speculate, I overtly identify my comments as speculative.”
But Hastings also met military veterans who weren’t only unafraid of the issue, they agreed to go on record with their own abduction stories. Most notably there was Terry Lovelace, a USAF veteran who finished his long legal career with the Attorney General’s office in Vermont. Lovelace wrote his own first-person abduction account, Incident at Devil’s Den, in 2018. The other day, he told a told a podcast host how, upon waking up at 5:55 a.m., his cellphone workout app indicated he had ascended 60 feet above his one-story house in less than a minute.
“I do not believe in the immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern, with no superhuman authority behind it” — Albert Einstein/CREDIT: 123rf.com
A decade ago, Hastings would’ve gone on a book tour in hopes of encouraging others to step out of the shadows. He no longer feels encumbered by what his critics or anyone else thinks anymore. Given the “precarious” state of his health, however, the lecture circuit is a no-go.
Today, Robert Hastings sounds reconciled to the idea that the mystery at the core of his being is destined to remain just that. And if what appears to have been a lifelong ordeal is real, he has tried to accept, with as much grace as is possible under these circumstances, what humanitarian scrutiny would regard as a gratuitous imposition of powerlessness, confusion and cruelty.
“I think these beings themselves don’t really care about the emotional impact they’re having on the abductees,” he says. “They have a job to do when the person is being taken for a particular reason. And whatever they need to do in that interaction, they’re going to do. Whether you’re screaming or terrified or not, they’re just gonna ignore all of that and get on with it.
“An analogy might be, we use lab animals day in and day out for reasons that we judge valid. And when we’re interacting with mice or rats or chimpanzees in the lab, I’m sure they’re alarmed or terrified by the things we’re doing to them. And yet, we’re not intentionally trying to be cruel to them. But we nevertheless do have a job to do, or a function to perform, and we’re going to do it regardless of what distress we might cause them.
“So I don’t think these entities are going out of their way to be cruel or evil, they’re just engaging in something that we find frightening.”
Like getting a taste of our own medicine, maybe?

UFO Phenomenon Seems to “Pre-Select” its Observers
By by Norio Hayakawa

“Human beings are under the control of a strange force that bends them in absurd ways, forcing them to play a role in a bizarre game of deception” – Jacques Vallee

The UFO phenomenon appears to me as a paraphysical intrusion into our physical dimension by an unknown intelligence or unknown sentient entitities, paraphysically materializing themselves to a “pre-selected” observer  (or a group of observers, whether small or large)  and presenting to the observer as a physical extraterrestrial phenomenon and visitation for reasons yet unknown.

The “pre-selection” also seems to include a particular location as well as a particular time.

The phenomenon seems to be able to materialize and de-materialize at will and even seems to be capable of “transmogrifying” itself into any shape or form  (as in the words of John A. Keel).

However, the phenomenon does not seem to be able to survive in our physical dimension except for a few seconds or a few minutes at a time.

Some researchers claim that the phenomenon seems to be able to temporarily affect our physical parameters  (such as radar, etc.).

Yet the phenomenon also seems to be incapable of being photographed with clarity, if at all.

And on many occasions, it seems to me that these “UFOs” only deceptively appear  (to the observer)   to be utilizing some type of a propulsion system as they seem to take off into the distant sky at an unimaginable rate of speed.

Finally, by ‘phenomenon’  here,  I would like to include both the  ‘craft’  as well as the  ‘entities’  and their seemingly paraphysical capabilities.

By the way, here is another of my favorite quotes from Dr. Jacques Vallee, the world’s top-most authority on the UFO phenomenon in my opinion:

“Contact between human percipients and the UFO phenomenon always occurs under conditions controlled by the latter.  Its characteristic feature is a factor of absurdity that leads to a rejection of the story by the upper layers of the target society and an absorption at a deep unconscious level of the symbols conveyed by the encounter.”

I am the first to admit that all of the above is purely my personal speculation, but it’s the best that I could do, considering this sobering fact that:

Even though the UFO phenomenon seems to exist, it has not proven itself to be absolute, tangible evidence that we have been visited by actual physical extraterrestrial biological entities in any actual physical spacecraft of any kind.  The term “UFOs” is misleading since we still do not know if they are really objects or if they are actually flying as we understand flying to be  (as through the use of a propulsion system), as often mentioned by Dr. Jacques Vallee.

Russian Scientists Search For Traces of Tunguska Event

Lakes may hold the answer to the epic Tunguska Event, an atmospheric explosion 112 years ago which had the force of 185 Hiroshima bombs, wiping out 80 million trees.

Sediments are seen as the key to understanding an event that - because of its remote location - was not easily investigated at the time.

A meteor is believed to have burst some 5 to 10 kilometres above the Earth's surface, flattening more than 2,000 square kilometres (770 square miles) while causing no known casualties.

The surface of the uncovered core from the Lake Zapovednoye Among the dark-colored clay, a layer of light color (circled red) dating from 1908-1910 is clearly visible. Picture: Fedor Daryin

Now scientists from four major institutes - Novosibirsk Institute of Nuclear Physics, Novosibirsk Institute of Geology and Mineralogy, Tunguska Nature Reserve and Krasnoyarsk Biophysics Institute - are actively studying traces of the last century’s catastrophe hoping to understand an event that literally shook the world.

‘The mystery of the Tunguska Catastrophe worries both the scientists and the public’, said Dr Arthur Meidus, deputy director to Tunguska Nature Reserve.

‘The meteorite is not here as a physical body, but the traces of the extremely powerful explosion are, which is what is currently studied by researchers.

‘Many of us still hope to unravel the scenario of 1908 disaster.’

How, specifically?

Take remote Lake Zapovednoye, some 40 km from the supposed epicentre of the aerial explosion.

'Although this lake is outside the territory that was affected in 1908, it is of great interest,’ said Dr Meidus.

'It is deep, and silty sediments, that have accumulated here, do not mix, or subside.’

In other words they ‘contain information from earlier years’.

This includes the ‘history of non-stop climate changes and catastrophic events’.

He said: ‘Spring-autumn waste waters and the Lakura River brought traces of the Tunguska catastrophe to this lake, because the event was accompanied by massive wildfires and emissions of both planet and space origin.’

Experiments with the use of modern methods of microanalysis, such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis deploying synchrotron radiation, show the possibility of a search for micro particles of extraterrestrial origin in dated layers of the sediments.

He said: 'We discovered a distinguishing light-coloured layer in sediments of Lake Zapovednoye the content of which - an increased content of potassium, titanium, rubidium, yttrium, and zirconium - allows to tie it to the consequences of the Tunguska bolide explosion.

'This way we know which layer of sediments might contain particles of extraterrestrial origin.

'We established the indicators, that is search criteria, during work with samples of the Chelyabinsk and Sikhote-Alin meteorites.

‘The next stage implies search for micro-particles with unusual composition with the use of synchrotron radiation.

'Now we know where to look for them.

‘If there is extraterrestrial substance, it will be in the 1908-1910 layer.'

Other research into Tunguska is underway, too.

For example, Italian scientists carried out research over 21 years which claimed the dazzling blue-water of Lake Cheko fills the 'missing' impact crater, so giving the elusive evidence that this phenomenon was caused by the meteorite.

Russian geologists have strongly disputed this claim, insisting there is no impact crater because the meteor was entirely destroyed in the atmosphere.

Except perhaps for a few traces in the sediment of Zapovednoye and other lakes.

Scientists Don't Know Why Things Just Disappear

Yeah, yeah, Einstein figured out everything from relativity to atoms to e=mc2. So how come Mr. Genius never bothered to explain the deepest physics mystery of all:

Where does the pen by the phone go?

As an absent-minded-professor type, Albie could not have been unaware of this problem. If he didn't address it, it must be because he, too, could not figure it out. I mean, you take a message. You hang up the phone. You get a snack, the phone rings, you come back and...No pen!

Or, sometimes, no paper! Or if there is a pen, now it doesn't write. How can it possibly be the same pen?

In the interest of science - and matrimony, since it is hard to stay happily married when you suspect your spouse of constantly misplacing the pen and, ridiculously, your pen-pilfering klepto-spouse suspects you - I asked a consortium of physicists and one persnickety professional organizer to explain:

Why does stuff just disappear? And just as mysteriously: Why does some of the stuff, particularly the toothpaste, suddenly reappear, after you have either forgotten all about it or spent many, many, MANY hours hunting for it RIGHT WHERE IT SUDDENLY REAPPEARS!? Explain this!!

''Einstein proposed that mass distorts space-time like a bowling ball distorts the surface of a mattress,'' said Daniel Koon, a professor of physics at St. Lawrence University, thinking he was being helpful. (Think again!)

This bowling ball creates a black hole, ''like a newly formed blob in a lava lamp,'' said Koon. And this blob swallows pens.

Or something. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't have started with the physicists.
But anyway, I did, and another one - Lawrence Brehm at the State University of New York at Potsdam - said that, in fact, black holes are NOT to blame. It's the entropy, stupid!

''There is usually enough random energy around to create disorder'' - i.e., entropy. ''This random energy can be a breeze or a vibration, but often it takes the form of a child, spouse or pet.''

AHA! So then it is my husband (or child or pet) who is always walking off with the pen, right?

Well, not according to Donald Ware. Ware happens to be the director of the International UFO Congress but he does hold a graduate degree in physics, and he says that ''advanced aliens'' hang around, moving objects through ''what some call telekinesis.'' Moreover, they do this to ''expand the awareness of the individual involved.''

In other words, when I cannot find the pen, it is because aliens have moved it in order to make me more aware of the other inhabitants of the universe.

Other inhabitants who have picked up all my husband's bad habits.

Lisa Zaslow, the professional organizer, shakes her head. The problem is not space-time or aliens or entropy, she chides, but that we don't pay enough attention to where we put stuff.

Yeah. Like that really makes sense. Lisa, I pay constant attention to my stuff and, in fact, have just found my phone pen, so there! The only remaining physics mystery is this:

How'd it get into my underwear drawer?

Woman Revives 10-Hours Later After Being Pronounced Dead

An 83-year-old woman came back to life 10 hours after being pronounced dead by medical examiners, claims she had gone on a journey during the time she was ‘not alive’, ARY News reported.

Ksenia Didukh hailing from Ukraine was pronounced dead at home in the town of Stryzhavka last week after paramedics were called by relatives discovered her lifeless body.

Ten hours later as her family and her loved ones began to make arrangments for her funeral she began showing signs of life and was rushed to hospital where she regained consciousness.

Speaking about her near-death experience, Ksenia said she saw the kingdom of heaven and heard her late father calling to her.

Speaking about the moment she regained consciousness, Ksenia added: ‘My eyes opened, and people in white were standing around me.

‘I thought they were angels but these were doctors. Apparently God had mercy on me.’

Daughter Tetyana Potomchenko said paramedics were first called around 6 am when her mother, a retired nurse, fell gravely ill.

Medics said there was no point in taking her to the hospital because she was dying when her pulse was checked it showed a flat line, so declared her dead.

But Potomchenko recalled: 'At around 7.30pm we touched her forehead, and it was warm.

'Her armpits were warm, she was alive. The death certificate had to be cancelled - and torn up.'

When Ksenia arrived at the hospital she was declared to be in a coma, before coming round and starting to talk with medics.

Priest Roman Petrik, who had been booked to conduct her funeral, added: 'A miracle of resurrection has occurred.

'God gave life to this old lady. This is the first time I have seen it.'

Dr Tetyana Katylova, deputy medical officer of Vinnytsia regional hospital, said: ‘I have been working as a doctor for 20 years, but I have not seen anything like this.’

- SOLVE THIS MYSTERY DEPARTMENT -

Museum May Be Haunted by Ghost of Agatha Christie

Staff and volunteers who work at Torquay Museum are convinced that the playful ghost of crime writer Agatha Christie may be behind frequent poltergeist activity in the gift shop.

The oldest museum in Devon has long been rumoured to be haunted and previously released CCTV footage showing leaflets mysteriously flying off shelves.

Now staff insist they have witnessed frequent poltergeist activity. They have seen Agatha Christie being launched across the room and wonder if the Queen of Crime is haunting the gift shop which contains many of her books.

The Museum holds the UK's only Agatha Christie collection, with relics of her childhood days at Ashfield, a beautiful detached villa in Barton Road which was demolished in the 1960s much to the author's distress.

Flying books are not the only signs of ghosts at the 175 year old  exhibition space, which has previously embraced its reputation as Devon's most haunted museum and hosts 'Night at the Museum' style paranormal nights.

The staff who have seen flying books think the strange phenomenon is linked to an enormous ladder in the corner of the same room. It is made from wooden floorboards salvaged during the demolition of Ashfield, which young Agatha used to play on.

In the most recent paranormal incident last week shop manager Francesa Ferrara and volunteer Stuart Scott both witnessed two books fly off different shelves and hit a customer.

And when we asked if the video showing the flying books was a hoax both insisted: "No it's true - it happens all the time. It's spooky."

Gift shop manager Francesca said: "Every time books fly off the shelves, it's always Agatha Christie books.

"It has happened so many times. The most recent was last Tuesday. This poor woman was walking by and one of the Agatha Christie books came flying at her. Then she walked over to the other stand and another Agatha Christie book hit her.

"She said she believes in ghosts and said 'You can tell them to go away if you don't want them here - but I don't mind'.

"We have a large collection of historic Agatha Christie books and first editions and it's only her  which fly off."

Stuart Scott believes the shop is haunted: "We were both standing over on the opposite side of the room and saw it happen. The customer was walking by just here and the first book came flying off. Then she walked around to the other side and a different Agatha Christie book from another shelf flew off.

"I've seen similar things happen twice now. I believe in ghosts - there's got to be something out there."

Museum curator Clare Howe, whose scientific background is in archeology, is a non-believer. She said: "I think it happens when we have parties of schoolchildren running around upstairs."

But Francesca and Stuart both remain adamant that they are witnessing paranormal activity.

Francesca said: "I've seen it happen four times in a year. It seems odd that it's always the Agatha Christie books - especially as we are the only Agatha Christie museum in the country and we have the ladder made from the floorboards standing there in the corner of the gift shop. She would have run around on those very floorboards at her childhood home."

Back in 2016 Torquay Museum staff released this CCTV footage which showed the moment when leaflets flew off shelves:

In a string of paranormal events, ghost hunters were left stunned in May 2016 after finger and thumb prints appeared on the inside of an unopened child's mummy case.

The event run by the museum and the Real Investigators of the Paranormal. Carl Smith from the museum said he was at a loss to explain how the fingerprints appeared on the inside of the mummy’s sarcophagus case.

“The weirdest thing was that we have a mummy, which we believe is Devon’s only human mummy. During the night on the inside of the case we saw what we believe were handprints on the inside. It was a pretty clear two fingers and a thumb."

The case had not been opened for seven years and he said it took seven men to lift the case open.

“It was definitely the highlight of the evening and something that we cannot explain. It freaked a few people out,”Mr Smith said.

And in a previous ghost hunt a startling image of a young woman was captured in the old Devon farmhouse exhibit.

In her old age, Agatha Christie said she never dreamed of Greenway, her home on the River Dart.

It was Ashfield, the elegant Torquay villa where she was born in 1890, that her dreams took her back to.

At the end of her autobiography, the crimewriter fondly recalled: “How well I know every detail there: the frayed red curtain leading to the kitchen, the sunflower brass fender in the hall grate, the Turkey carpet on the stairs, the big, shabby schoolroom with its dark blue and gold embossed wallpaper.”

Ashfield was the setting for a happy childhood. It was also where her daughter Rosalind was born and where the author’s parents lived out their lives. She begged her mother to keep it on after the death of her father, Frederick, when she was 11 years old.

But in 1938 Dame Agatha sold the Barton Road property and bought Greenway at Galmpton for £6,000.

“Ashfield, my home, has changed,” she lamented.

Torquay Boys Grammar School in Barton Road had been built during the previous decade and blocked the views down to the sea which she loved in her youth.

“Once it had been all countryside out of Torquay: three villas up the hill and then the road petered out into country. The lush green fields where I used to go to look at the lambs in spring had given way to a mass of small houses. No one we knew lived in our road any longer.”

In 1960, developers unveiled a scheme to bulldoze Ashfield and a neighbouring villa and replace them with blocks of flats and a petrol station. The proposal was turned down because of objections to the filling station, but the principle of new homes was agreed.

Dame Agatha heard about the designs on her former home and rushed to her solicitor to see if she could buy back the property and make a gift of it, perhaps as an old people’s home. But it was too late – the process of creating a new “estate” had begun.

More than a year later, she summoned up the resolution to drive to Barton Road, where she wrote of “the meanest, shoddiest little houses I had ever seen".

There was nothing left except for “the defiant remains of what had been a monkey puzzle, struggling to exist in a cluttered back yard”.

She said that Ashfield and everything that went with it was over: "Only a ghost of a little girl playing with a hoop would linger in the place where she had once been so happy."

Avid Christie fan Bret Hawthorne believes Ashfield was the custodian of many of the keys to unlocking the character of Dame Agatha, but “incredibly, in perhaps the most colossal lack of foresight ever perpetrated by a local council” Torquay planners allowed the property to be obliterated.

Today only a blue plaque, fixed to a stone beside a pavement, commemorates the birthplace of the world’s most famous crime writer.
